A Norfolk museum is to run a unique six-week art based programme aimed at helping migrant workers to develop and practise their English skills.

A series of art and craft workshops will be held at Swaffham Museum from Saturday, February 14.

The sessions, which will be led by the museum's education officer Sian Hogarth, will use art as a means to help learn language.

The theme for the workshops will be hidden treasure and inspiration will come from the museum's collection.

This contains items found locally over the past 20 years by local metal detector enthusiast Monique Slaven and includes a centuries old coin hoard and several medieval pilgrim badges.

No special artistic skills or abilities are necessary for the sessions.

Children are welcome and while older ones will be able to join in with the adults, for younger children there will be other activities including stories, making puppets, drawing, painting and dressing up.

The workshops are free. Contact Sian Hogarth at Swaffham Museum on 01760 721230.
