The 75th anniversary of one of the most infamous Second World War bombing raids by Norfolk-based American aircrews is to be marked at a film night.

The mission to Munster on October 10, 1943, will be the subject of one of the films at the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum.

The 100th Bomb Group's raid to bomb the centre of the German city marked the bloodiest three days in Eighth Air Force's history to that point. Eighty-eight B-17s had been lost in three days, nearly 900 men.

Of the 18 100th Bomb Group aircraft that took off five aborted on the way to the target and other sustained heavy losses.

The film night at the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum, Thorpe Abbotts, on October 10 will also feature several films exploring Second World War aviation.
