The pair have met three times – the first one, in May last year, went the way of Norwich man Morris, but he was devastated when he let his advantage slip in their July meeting and could only draw.

Both men wanted a rematch, and on Saturday, Morris sent Fash packing back to Hull after a 59:55 points win.

So is this it between them?

'I hope so, I'm am sick of the sight of him,' said a smiling Morris. 'He is a very stubborn, very hard, gritty, determined fighter and I have nothing but respect for Luke Fash. He has earned that respect and he will forever have it.

'But I hope that is the end. I think I convincingly won – there's no doubt, no draw this time.

'We had a game plan and we stuck to it. I didn't abandon the jab like I did before and I know my jab is a good jab and my corner know it is a good jab.

'It is about using it in the right way. I worked it and everything came out of that. I just kept it nice and composed, got the job done, started lower went into high gear.'

Memories of their summer meeting – Morris' second draw in an unbeaten 13-fight pro career – are now banished.

He said: 'I was really annoyed last time, annoyed and upset. This sport means everything in the world to me. It is character building, it has made me the man and the fighter I am.'

Braintree's Billy Bird took his record to 16 wins and one defeat when he came through a tough six-rounder against Ashley Bailey Dumetz, the 58:57 scoreline reflecting how close it was. Bird is now plotting his biggest challenge to date: he has a Southern Area super-welterweight title fight against holder Matt McCarthy next March.

Clacton middleweight Joe Hurn returned from a short break from the sport, stopping Rochester's Sonny Whiting in the fourth and final round.

Colchester welterweight Alan Ratibb looked like he might do the same against Dylan Draper, but couldn't quite finish the job, settling for a good 40:36 points victory.

The parachute regiment's Connor Vian beat Arvydas Trizno 40:37, his speed just too much for the Lithuanian.
