Youngsters enjoy their day in spotlight at Norfolk Cricket Alliance junior finals

Norfolk's cricket stars of the future seized the chance to shine as the Dipple & Conway Opticians Norfolk Cricket Alliance junior competitions provided a thrilling finale to the youth season.
In the John Dewing U9 final, Southwold beat Norwich by 44 runs and a storming end to a thrilling, rain-plagued Terry Moore U11 final saw Great Melton beat Swardeston-CEYMS by two runs. In the Allan Bridgewater U13 final Great Witchingham beat Acle by two wickets, while Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers were victorious against Fakenham in the Andy Seeley U15 final by seven wickets.
Southwold proved too strong for Norwich in a 16-over pairs match at under-nine level. The Suffolk side posted a score of 286-3 (274 net), with key contributions from Ruben Harvey (13), Harry Barbrook (20) and Finlay Barbrook (18). For Norwich, Harvey Peters made 16. Man-of-the-match Ruben Harvey was the most successful bowler with figures of 2-1-3-2 as Norwich finished 265-7 (240 net).
Hero of the day in the Under-11 final was Saxon Earley who, with partner Jack Gorman, added 39 from their four overs to see their team home as Great Melton finally won a county competition at the eighth attempt.
Swardeston scored freely, reaching 318 after 16 overs, but lost nine wickets to reduce their score to 264 net. Zach Taylor was the pick of the batsmen with 25. After 12 overs of Great Melton's reply and the score on 233 it looked a big ask for the last pair. But Saxon was in blistering form and finished with 31 not out.

Great Witchingham made 96-5, reaching their target with 10 balls to spare (Flynn Drinkell 28).

At Under-15 level Tommo Yarham batted superbly to reach an unbeaten 50 in Fakenham's 100-5.
Cameron Marable (27) and Joe Everett (26) then put on 54 for the first wicket as Wanderers got home comfortably.
