Norwich City new boy Timm Klose revealed a little inside knowledge helped the Canaries seal a deal for the Swiss international.

The 27-year-old is represented by Gaetano Giallanza, who played for Norwich for two years between 2000 and 2002, and made it clear Carrow Road was the perfect next stage in his career.

Klose admits he already has a good feel for his new club after signing a three-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee from Wolfsburg.

“You can smell the football here,” he told the club’s official site. “When I came here and saw the training ground, the stadium, and everything – it was fantastic. This place smells like football, and that’s how I want to play. In Germany, also sometimes in Switzerland, everything is very modern and new with everything, sometimes you lose the feeling of football.

“I knew that my agent played for Norwich so I’d heard some good stories. I knew about the history of the club and everything was great in the end so I decided to move here. I can’t wait to hear the fans and play in front of them. Gaetano told me about them, he showed me some pictures and when he was here for a game he took some videos so I had a little impression of what to expect, so I’m looking forward to it. It’s a big step for me to go from Germany, the German language, to a new level and a new chapter in my life.”

Klose was a key figure in Wolfsburg’s successful qualification for the Champions League last season and also played in the vital group stage win over Manchester United prior to Christmas that earned his old club a last-16 tie against Ghent.

The central defender is also set for a busy summer with Switzerland at the Euro 2016 finals after qualifying from the same group as England.

Klose recorded a farewell message to the Wolfsburg fans before he left Germany in which he admitted it was a tough decision to leave the Bundesliga club, where he also won the German Cup during a successful two-and-a-half year spell.

“I opened myself up to the Premier League and I got a great offer from Norwich City and only a new adventure made me decide whether or not this was the right next step for me,” he said, speaking on Wolfsburg’s official site. I had two-and-a-half great years but football is fast moving. I whole-heartedly thank you and I hope we meet again soon.”

Wolfsburg head coach Dieter Hecking is in no doubt Klose will prove his worth.

“Timm always conducted himself extremely professionally in the difficult situation he had and always committed himself to the team,” said Hecking. “This transfer is the best solution for all parties. I’m sure Timm will find his way in England and I wish him all the best.”
