Bob Carter's hopes of yet another Summer League Championship title were dealt a massive blow at Wymondham where the home side crushed Carter 8-0 to move top of the table.

It was a rare maximum points defeat for the star studded Carter outfit who now trail Wymondham by three points with four matches left to play. Wymondham's Neil Davidson, Jon Sparham & Chris Mann opened with a nine shot victory against Melvin Woods' triple. On the other mat Mark Linsdell, Debs Sparham & Jack Pye came from behind to beat Carter's Nigel Willard, John Turner & David Lamb in a game that went to the wire. After the break Jack Pye's triple made a much better start to the session and went on to beat a revamped Carter triple of Jason Woods, Jamie Forster & Simon Willies by 13-7. The remaining game between Chris Mann's Wymondham triple and David Lamb's Carter triple was hard fought throughout but once again it was Mann's triple who came out on top with a last end victory after Davidson ditched the jack and Sparham drew in a great second wood to the ditch line.

Kirby Bedon survived a spirited second half comeback by Thorpe Marriott in their NCSMBA Summer Cup semi-final clash to claim their place in the final. The Kirby Bedon triples of Carol Aggas, Gerald Chilvers & Phil Watson and Jimmy Dye, Joe Brown & John Aggas won their opening games 20-15 and 18-10 respectively to give Kirby a 4-0 lead on points at the break. A second half comeback by Thorpe Marriott saw Tony Turner's triple win 11-9 and George Clarke's triple win by one shot but it was not enough to deny Kirby a 10-shot win. They will now face Wymondham in the cup final which will take place at St Faiths on Monday, September 11.

In Division Two of the Summer League only five points now separate the top four teams as the battle for the two promotion places intensifies. It was a busy time for Forncett and their results moved them just one point behind the top two Horsford Heroes and Watton. It could have been much better for them if they had not slipped to a surprise 5-3 home defeat against Windows who collected only their second win of the campaign. Windows triple Maureen Dease, Ken Dease & Keith Halford opened with a 17-10 win against Linda Preece's triple and with Brenda Sizer and Diane Halford substituting for the Deases in the second half Keith Halford beat Rebecca Humphreys 17-11. Mike Boswell's triple held Peter Lock's triple to a 15-15 draw ensuring a rare away win for Windows.

Forncett also drew 4-4 at Shropham but a maximum 8-0 win at Hingham improved their title hopes. Peter Lock's triple won their games 20-6 and 18-8 while Linda Preece won by 15-11 and 15-12.
