Wymondham Ladies were unfortunate to go down 2-1 to Bungay Town.

Both teams were prepared to battle and the match started at a quick tempo, a tempo which continued on a sunny Kings Head Meadow. The game was a midfield battle and it was 50/50 all throughout the half. The only real chance was Bungay's when a free-kick hit the crossbar and then the follow-up hit a post. Half time score: 0-0.

The second half started just as quickly as the first and once again it was a midfield battle.

The game's first goal was Bungay's - the ball played into the penalty area and the bounce deceived the defence and Bungay's striker tucked the ball home.

Wymondham then had a penalty shout turned down when Emma appeared to be caught by the keeper, but play continued.

Bungay added a second goal when the ball fell 35 yards from goal and the player smashed it into the back of the net, and Wymondham continued to show determination for the final 10 minutes.

A Bungay back pass was picked up by the goalkeeper and Georgina Knight touched the ball for Gemma Hamilton to curl into the top corner. There were two more chances for Wymondham; a corner falling to Louise, whose header was narrowly over and Laura Parry's shot was wide in the final seconds.

This was Wymondham's last home game of the season and the attitude of the players was unquestionable and their team performance was as good as it has been all season, the team playing as one, and the spirit in the changing room remains positive.

Player of the match was Gemma Hamilton, who bossed the defence, winning headers and organising and took her goal very well.

The other outstanding player was Laura Parry whose energy and commitment was excellent.

Wymondham are away to Mulbarton next week.
