Wymondham 55, Thurston 10

Wymondham moved seven points clear in Division One after a comfortable win in this top versus bottom encounter.

Things did not start well for the hosts when they went down to 14 men almost straight away for what was adjudged a dangerous tackle. Thurston failed to convert the penalty but James Wyatt then converted at the other end to give Wymondham a 3-0 lead.

Thurston were striving to make the extra man count and, despite being stopped in their tracks by Neumi Rokodonin, recycled the ball well and scored a converted try.

When back up to 15 Wymondham started running at the Thurston defence and from a line-out Matt Ambrose, Dave Blake and Chris Miller drove for the line and Dane Canning scored a good forwards try in the corner to make it 8-7.

From another line-out charges by Dave Martin, Tom Wilson, Dave Blake and finally Andy Mackay allowed Steve Simms to put Onisimo Sagakalele through for a neat try under the posts, converted by Wyatt.
