Wroxham secured safe passage to their third successive Norfolk Senior Cup final with a cagey 2-0 win over Norwich United.

In a game devoid of clear cut chances, it was Wroxham's more clinical edge in front of goal that proved pivotal, in front of just over 200 spectators at Trafford Park.

Wroxham captain Andy Howell returned in one of three changes for the hosts, whilst Damian Hilton named no fewer that seven ex-Yachtsmen in his starting line-up, although top scorer Matt Blake was missing through illness.

Wroxham made an electrifying start and found themselves 1-0 up after just 47 seconds through Danny White.

A quick break from the midfielder released Christy Finch down the right, the striker taking a touch before dragging the ball back to White, who slotted home first time past Duncan McAnally and in. With the fast start promising so much, a rather cagey period followed as both sides failed to seize control.

The visitors were looking to robust striker Paul Cook for their best openings – with the striker being adjudged to have handled when well placed on 18 minutes – whilst the Yachtsmen were struggling to create also, Steve Taylor dinking just wide on 27 minutes.

The second half continued in the same tight vein, with United pressing more and controlling the ball better without really testing a stern Wroxham back four.

Adam Bennett tested Elliot Pride just before the hour mark with a well struck 25-yard free-kick that was tipped over by the Wroxham shot-stopper, while scythed efforts from Jamie Forshaw and Finch flew wide for the hosts.

Home manager Stewart Larter thrust on Kyle Baker in an attempt to give his side more gusto in attack and, after setting up Finch for a one-on-one chance that the striker couldn't take, he justified his appearance with a well taken second to seal the win.

Wroxham will face Ryman North rivals Dereham in the Senior Cup final, who won 3-1 at home against Diss Town.
