Stewart Larter and his Wroxham play-off hopefuls will be looking to keep their recent upsurge in form going when they travel to mid-table Waltham Abbey.

The Yachtsmen have lost only once since New Year's Day in all competitions, with eight wins in 11 games propelling them to third in the Ryman North table and suitably placed to grab one of the four play-off places.

A 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Cray Wanderers on Tuesday moved Wroxham ahead of Brentwood Town and AFC Sudbury in the table, giving them a four-point cushion over sixth-placed Dereham Town as the league moves into the final few games of the season.

That victory was Wroxham's fourth in a row, and although many would say performances on the pitch have not quite been up to scratch in comparison to earlier in the season, points are the name of the game – a view echoed by Larter himself.

'It's really important to win when you're not playing well, it's such a good trait to have,' he said. 'The club probably didn't do it enough last year, but I'm pleased to see we are now.

'We haven't been at our fluent best the past few weeks, but the important thing is that we're getting the three points and the character we are showing can only stand us in good stead.'

Opponents Waltham Abbey are currently in 13th place, although Larter and his men must not underestimate the outfit as they are one of only four teams to defeat Wroxham at home this season, a humbling 3-0 result back in September.

After a fast start to the season – where they won all three of their opening games – the Abbotts have fallen into something of an inconsistent pattern and are one of only a handful of teams with arguably not much to play for going into the final few games of the season.
