Spixworth 0, Wroxham 3: Wroxham flexed their Ryman League muscles to beat Anglian Combination side Spixworth and reach the final of the Norfolk Senior Cup.

Spixworth held their own in the early exchanges and had an early effort from a corner blocked by Wroxham keeper Scott Howie.

Yachtsmen striker Matt Blake went through on goal but was denied by a crucial last ditch tackle by a Spixworth defender, just as Blake was about to shoot.

The hosts had a penalty claim waved away by the referee before Wroxham began to assert their authority.

Ross Durrant saw his 20-yard effort sail just over on 24 minutes and Blake's tame header was comfortably saved.

Wroxham took the lead on 29 minutes when Ben Thompson collected the ball in the box, and he turned a Spixworth defender before shooting past the goalkeeper.

Thompson then had another great opportunity but he could only guide his effort from close range over the bar.

The visitors increased their lead on 35 minutes when Thompson was played through on goal, only to be brought down by Spixworth centre-back Ben Gowen in the area. The Spixworth defender was sent off and Matt Daniels stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot, giving Wroxham a 2-0 lead at half-time.

Spixworth made two changes at the start of the second half and again stood toe to toe with their higher league opponents.

On the hour mark Wroxham introduced Gavin Lemmon and Sam Harty.

Harty had a couple of decent efforts on goal, one of which was cleared off the line.

Wroxham's Remi Gordon used his pace well down the left on more than one occasion, out sprinting Spixworth's right-back on 70 minutes and cutting in to the box before having his shot blocked well by the defender.

Blake was replaced by Jamie Forshaw with 20 minutes remaining, and it took a little more than a minute for the former Lowestoft and King's Lynn striker to make an impression, as his sweetly-struck shot was saved.

Spixworth struggled to create much in the final third, as Wroxham continued to make the most of their numerical advantage by pressing for a third goal. Harty again went close in the 85th minute from 25 yards, but his effort flew just wide.

The Yachtsmen finally sealed their victory in the 88th minute when Thompson got on the end of a corner, and put the ball in to the back of the net with a header from eight yards out.
