Wroxham manager Damian Hilton will be looking to take inspiration from local rivals Dereham Town this afternoon.

The Magpies were midweek winners against Maldon & Tiptree, and the Essex side are visiting Norfolk for the second time in a week today.

It was only the second loss suffered by Maldon in the Ryman League in a run that went back to December 19 and Wroxham are rightly expecting a difficult game.

The Yachtsmen were boosted a week ago by a hard-fought away victory at Phoenix Sports, where Jack Garrod netted twice for the visitors.

Since his arrival from Norwich United, Hilton has Wroxham to four wins in eight games, the former Wroxham player and manager having introduced a more disciplined approach and shoring up a defence that was previously leaking goals. Apart from the visit to high-flying Hornchurch, Wroxham's defence have conceded only seven times in seven games. In the previous four games, the record was 11 goals conceded.

Nick Davey returned to the first team last Saturday and the former Wisbech striker was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. He will be looking for a similar performance against the Jammers. Jackson Ramm missed the trip to Kent, but should be available for selection this weekend.

Jammers manager Steve Ball has recently strengthened his side in the hope that they can sneak into the play-off picture. Ball has brought in two loanees from football league clubs – Colchester midfielder Chris Regis and Ipswich defender Kyle Hammond.

Maldon are currently 11th in the league, 10 points outside the play-off zone, and Tuesday's loss at Dereham has arguably ended their promotion ambitions. Another player familiar to this area in the Maldon squad is former Lowestoft defender Curtis Haynes-Brown.
