Wisbech Town had to come from behind three times to rescue a point against Eynesbury Rovers in an end-to-end game at the Fenland Stadium.

With five players unavailable for various reasons, Fenmen boss Gary Setchell’s squad was stretched to the limit and, when Eynesbury striker Dom Lawless converted a 10th minute penalty for a very harsh handball decision by referee Christopher Darling, the signs were not good.

On the half hour mark, recent signing Daniel Bendon equalised for the Fenmen with a close-range header but when Jordan Brown gave the visitors the lead again in the 44th minute, it looked likely Wisbech would trail going into the break.

However, just 22 seconds after the restart, Michael Frew grabbed his 14th goal of the season to haul the Fenmen level.

Nine minutes into the second half, Lawless scored his second and the visitors’ third but from that point the momentum swung in the Fenmen’s favour.

Despite dominating possession, it took until the 87th minute before Wisbech got a deserved equaliser. Frew was fouled inside the area and Danny Setchell stepped up to smash home the penalty.

Eynesbury were reduced to 10 men in the 90th minute but despite the numerical advantage, Wisbech couldn’t quite find the all-important fourth goal.
