Wisbech Town staged a stirring second-half comeback to keep the pressure on leaders Yaxley and stay ahead of the chasing pack.

The visitors weathered an early storm and took the lead after 20 minutes through Barnes Gladman.

In the 68th minute, Josh Ford let fly with a rasping shot which was tipped over. The resulting corner was partially cleared and keeper Glen Giles blotted his copybook when he spilled Jon Fairweather’s tame header straight to Michael Frew who couldn’t miss from three yards. Nine minutes later, Richard Bunting’s blocked shot ricocheted into the air and as Frew set himself for a bicycle kick, Billy Smith got there first and headed the Fenmen into the lead. Four minutes from time, Smith’s well-placed free-kick 25 yards out crept inside the post to make it 3-1 and with title-rivals Deeping Rangers only able to draw at home to lowly Oadby, a vital three points were secured.
