Lowestoft and Yarmouth cruised into the fourth round of the London and SE Senior Vase after what amounted to no more than a training run, with Wisbech opting to rest most of their first team.

At half-time L&Y were up by 42 points, with scrum-half Russ Chapman converting all six tries as he gave a man of the match display.

The first try came soon after the kick-off as skipper Marc Thomas made a trademark break and passed to Kristen Taylor-Crisp who ran in an easy score. Then L&Y took the ball from Wisbech scrum and stand-off Matt Jary sent winger Daniel Boardley away to score in the corner.

Following a 40 yards run Chapman then made the ball available for Thomas to canter under the posts and it wasn’t long before Jake Titterington put his name on the scoresheet. Myles McAlone was next to score after good work from winger Dave Palmer before Chapman made a classic break and ran 45 yards under the posts.

It was never going to be easy to maintain the momentum after the break but L&Y scored another five tries, with Chapman adding the conversions to four of them.

Chris Howe scored first following sustained pressure and Steve Powles was next as he interplayed with Chapman before crashng over out wide. Richard Bristo was then stopped just short, with Calum Cashman on hand to collect and score.

Wisbech made a mess of the next lineout and again Howe was on hand to collect the bouncing ball and score and Howe completed his hat-trick as he forced his way over.
