For sheer fortitude and perseverance on the chilling banks of the carp lakes, the plaudits go to teenager Macauley Chapman.
The 13 year old from Bradwell visited the Burgh Castle Hall Farm fishery in sub zero temperatures to land a number of carp including three fish in the high teens headed by a 17lb 4oz common.
'I love my carp fishing and to be honest I don't feel the cold when I'm catching,' said the Lynne Grove High school pupil.
The upper River Wensum produced a catch of half a dozen chub between 3lb and 4lb 8oz reeled in one after another during a 45-minute spell by Lyng angler Colin Howlett.
'With the water temperature just 2c I didn't think I stood a chance, then I caught these half-dozen beauties on single lumps of bread flake baiting a link ledger rig carrying three swan shot,' he said.
