Cricket clubs in Norfolk are being urged to take part in the biggest ever Natwest Cricket Force event next month.

Already 31 clubs in the county have registered for the event, which sees members and volunteers carrying out improvements to club facilities over a designated weekend, which this year is from Friday, April 8 to Sunday, April 10.

Nationally, more than 1,750 clubs will be taking part, surpassing last year's record total of 1,642.

The event is being supported by the Norfolk Cricket Board and Garboldisham CC are being used as a showcase club to demonstrate what can be achieved.

Garboldisham are aiming to bring their old pavilion up to the standard of the recently added extension and the NCB's cricket development officer Kevin Denmark said: 'The work is estimated at around 10,000, but they are hoping to do it for around 2,000 by enlisting the help of volunteers, borrowing machinery and taking advantage of the special discounts available through Cricket Force.

'It is the epitome of what Cricket Force is all about.'

Other key projects around the county include a new pavilion at Swanton Morley, while Bradenham are taking delivery of their new covers – which have been designed and constructed by students at Wymondham College as part of a project – and weather-proofing their pavilion. Cromer CC are also installing new net facilities.
