Norfolk rugby prospect George Catchpole has impressed his Leicester Tigers coaches after recently featuring for the Aviva Premiership club's first team.

With many senior stars away with their countries for the Six Nations, Tigers have fielded some younger players in two recent LV= Cup matches.

Former North Walsham junior player Catchpole started both a 17-8 home win against Northampton and Saturday's 43-9 win at Cardiff Blues, which has secured a home semi-final against Exeter.

The 21-year-old from St Olaves, near Great Yarmouth, burst through to create Fraser Balmain's opening try and set up both of Adam Thompstone's late tries – which could now see him remain involved for Friday night's home league clash with Gloucester.

Leicester assistant coach Richard Blaze, who takes charge of Leicester's LV= Cup matches, said: 'Some of the young guys took their opportunities to impress. This will cause a few selection problems for next week as Jack Roberts and George Catchpole looked good together as a centre partnership.'
