Defender Stuart Wall ended 22 months of misery by finally pulling on a King's Lynn Town shirt again on Saturday.

The centre-back hadn't featured competitively for the Linnets since their UCL Cup final loss to St Ives on May 7, 2012, until he started Saturday's 3-0 win over Frickley Athletic. Wall had the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee rebuilt in January 2013 following a pre-season injury and has worked tirelessly since to get his career back on track.

Having spent some time on loan at clubs like Bedford Town, almost two years of hard graft paid off as Wall finally made his long-awaited Walks' return.

He said: 'As soon as I got on the operating table (about 15 months ago) the first thought in my head was to get back here playing at The Walks, nowhere else really. It's just been a stepping stone everywhere I've been this season to get back here.

'It was a pleasing feeling. This is the only thing that was motivating me when I had to stand in the gym for three hours by myself doing horrible work for the sole reason to get back here. So it's all been worthwhile.'

The 26-year-old slotted in like he'd never been away as Lynn ended a run of five consecutive defeats.

Boss Gary Setchell said: 'It was another gamble to chuck Wally straight in. But Stuart Wall's a very proud man, he's a proud player and he's never, ever going to let anybody down.

'He was brave as a lion and I thought he defended great.'
