BUNGAY Town Ladies gained a valuable win 3-2 against Coltishall Jaguars.

Bungay were quickly into their stride as Emily Leach went close in the first minute and in the very next attack Jo Oakley ran onto a through ball to calmly score with a drive past the keeper.

But Colts soon equalised when a quick ball over the Bungay defence allowed a forward an easy close-range chance. Bungay continued to press but found it hard to create clear chances.

Midway through the first half Lauren Purling ran on to Jenny Head's long through ball and stabbed the ball past the advancing keeper. Bungay increased their lead when they were awarded a free-kick some 25 yards out and Emily Leach scored with fierce driven shot past the keeper at her near post. Straight from the restart Colts cut Bungay's lead when three touches later a Colts forward was left to run in and score.

In the second half both teams found the heavy pitch difficult and the game became a midfield stalemate. Emily Leach went close from Hollie's pass and Jo Oakley worked hard to score.

Bungay settled for the win with Lauren Mickleburgh playing a captain's game, working tirelessly in midfield, and Annie Piper getting back to her best in her new centre back position.

There was a bonus when, after nine months out injured, last season's player of the year Kelly Garrison made a welcome return for the last 10 minutes.
