Excitement is building in Lowestoft as the town prepares to celebrate the arrival of Olympic boxing hero Anthony Ogogo this afternoon.

Crowds are beginning to gather in the town centre before Anthony's arrival on a special stage by the BHS store at 5pm.

It is hoped thousands of people will turn up to cheer on the town's bronze medal Olympian.

From 3pm live music started in the town centre as a precursor to the main event and people were beginning to stake their places to get a glimpse of the 23-year-old boxer.

Martin Halliday, manager of the Marina Theatre, hoped as many people as possible would turn up to cheer him on.

He said: 'It is lovely to be able to do something in honour of Anthony. He thoroughly deserves it.

'Let's all celebrate what is good about Lowestoft.'

Ogogo got the bronze medal after reaching the semi-finals of the middle weight division of the Olympics boxing.

Sisters Joanne and Kirsteen Provan, 45 and 40, we're in the crowd. Joanne said: 'We have got someone Lowestoft is proud of.'

Her sister said: 'We have come to support our local champion. He did so well in the Olympics. He has helped put Lowestoft on the map.'
