One poor hole proved costly for Andrew Marshall as a rare outing on the main European Tour ended in disappointment.

The Bawburgh professional missed the cut at the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco by just one shot after posting a painful treble bogey seven in his opening round.

Marshall, who had received an invitation as a reward for his success in the Mena Tour last season, was going along nicely at one under after 10 holes when he came to grief.

He ended up making a two over par 75 and a round of 74 on day two – featuring two birdies and three bogeys – wasn't enough as he missed out on a chance of a decent pay-day by the narrowest of margins.

Meanwhile, on the amateur scene, Royal Cromer youngster Amelia Williamson finished in a tie for eighth at the Scottish Girls Open Championships in Montrose. Rounds of 74, 76 and 72 left her three over for the event, 15 adrift of runaway winner Hannah Karg from Germany.
