At Gorleston it was the penultimate instalment of the Watling Plate and those attending were treated to champagne conditions more akin to the Mediterranean than Norfolk.
The uninterrupted sunshine, and a warm Force 3 South South Easterly wind which gradually increased throughout the day to a Force 4 from the South was obviously to the Catamaran sailors' liking as they claimed most of the podium places.
The Hobie Tigers of Dave Abbott and Tom Quayle and Steve Shaw and Ed Anderson enjoyed some close racing throughout the day with only a few seconds separating the two.
Despite this Richard Fryer and Carol Smalls in their RS400 managed to separate the two on corrected time in the first three races but ended the day with a win in the fourth race, just beating Shaw and Anderson, with Peter Johnson and Annie Smith in their Dart 18 finishing third.
