Gorleston have signed Daniel Foreman from Acle United and the defender will go straight into the Greens' squad for their Thurlow Nunn Premier Division clash at home Brantham Athletic this afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

Greens boss Ricci Butler has been tracking the centre half, who made 160 appearances for Acle during five seasons with the Anglian Combination side, for some time.

The Gorleston chief hopes the left-sided stopper can strengthen a side that has made an excellent start to the season in the league whilst securing safe passage to the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.

'I think we have been a bit light at centre half in the last few games and towards the end of last season,' said Butler. 'George Yusuff did a great job for us there but playing at centre half at such a young age is quite a demanding position.

'Daniel coming in offers that bit of experience. He has got a very good reputation and I think he will want to prove a point to people that he can play at this level. He's been brave in making the step up and I've no doubt he will prove to be a big asset for us.'

It's been a case of one in and one out this week though with Matty Brown leaving the club to re-sign for Norwich United.

Harley Clements, Pete Oldham, Mitchell McKay and Connor Ingram are also unavailable for today's game although the latter's absence has given Jack Garrod a chance to stake his claim up front.

It's an opportunity he has taken with both hands as his double last weekend against Southend Manor secured Gorleston a home tie in the next round of the FA Cup against Barking.

'He was suspended for the first three games and he has had to wait his turn as other players have been in form,' added Butler.

'But Connor (Ingram) being in the US has given him an opportunity and he has taken it.'

Elsewhere today Kirkley & Pakefield entertain Haverhill Borough with the Royals looking to build on the 0-0 draw against high-flying Thetford Town in midweek.

The Brecklanders head to Saffron Walden Town, who went down in a replay against Barking on Tuesday night whilst Fakenham head to Hadleigh United.

Wroxham, who drew with Stanway Rovers last weekend, travel to Long Melford.
