Fakenham Town completed a great escape on the final day as their 1-0 win at Walsham-le-Willows saw the Ghosts climb out of the Premier Division relegation zone, writes Mark Armstrong.

After looking dead and buried for most of the season Fakenham took 13 points from their final five games and their victory at Walsham, courtesy of Kyle Plumb's strike, was enough to see them climb out of the bottom three. Thetford, who were in 18th in the 20-team table going into Saturday's fixtures, face up to a drop into the First Division as their 3-1 defeat at Felixstowe & Walton condemned them to a 19th-placed finish. Danny White netted the Brecklanders' goal late on.

As it stands Swaffham Town will join them in the second tier as their 3-2 defeat at Hadleigh United saw the Pedlars slip into the bottom three.

However, should Wroxham gain a reprieve in their relegation from Ryman League Division One North, Swaffham could remain in the top-flight.

A final decision will be made within the next couple of weeks.

The Pedlars got off to a dream start at Hadleigh as Joe Jackson put them in front. Hadleigh equalised in the 38th minute and took the lead three minutes before half time. A glimmer of hope arrived in the 60th minute when Jackson levelled matters after latching on to Aaron Porter's cross but Hadleigh got the winner five minutes from time leaving Swaffham facing potential relegation.

Gorleston completed a difficult season by going down to a 4-0 defeat at FC Clacton whilst Kirkley & Pakefield secured a fifth-placed finish after a 1-0 win at Haverhill Rovers. Ross King got the goal for the Royals.

Champions Norwich United rounded off their league campaign with a 1-0 defeat at Stanway Rovers.

Great Yarmouth Town have been promoted to the Premier Division as their 1-0 win over Team Bury at The Wellesley secured a third-placed finish. Pete Oldham got the only goal of the game in front of 205 supporters as the Bloaters avoided promotion heartache on the final day for the second season in a row.

King's Lynn Town romped to a 4-1 win over Braintree Reserves whilst Diss Town rounded off their campaign with a 3-1 victory at Cornard United. Jamie George, Callum Olpin and Sam Page got the goals for the Tangerines.

* Wisbech Town enjoyed a 5-3 win over Oadby Town in the United Counties League Premier Division.

Wisbech dominated from the start and the visitors' resistance broke in the 25th minute as Stuart Cobb's low shot found the corner of the net after being played in by Danny Beaumont.

However, the lead was short-lived as five minutes later Sam Hollis volleyed home. Billy Smith restored the Fenmen's lead and Michael Frew made it 3-1.

Oadby pulled one back in the 66th minute but Matt Sparrow made it 4-2 before an Adam Millson header put the match out of the visitors' reach. Oadby pulled another back late on but it was too little, too late.

Wisbech now go into the replayed Holbeach game on Wednesday night knowing a win will secure fourth place.
