Great Yarmouth Town will look to get their promotion push back on track when they visit the First Division's basement boys.

The Bloaters' bid to reach the top flight suffered a rare setback last Saturday when they lost 2-1 at fellow in-form side King's Lynn Town Reserves. The defeat ended Yarmouth's 10-match unbeaten run while it stretched the Linnets' streak without a defeat to 10 league games – which became 11 in midweek thanks to a 0-0 draw with Debenham LC.

While Robbie Back's fifth-placed Lynn are without a game this weekend, Yarmouth, second, have the chance to add more precious points to their tally at Needham Market Reserves.

'Seven players missing proved a step too far,' said joint Yarmouth boss Adam Mason on Twitter after the weekend's reverse.

'We were just about beaten by an energetic Lynn reserves. We deserved a point but it wasn't our day. Well done to the five reserve lads who stepped in and gave their all and mixed in well. All were a credit to the club but it wasn't our day.'

Even if all of the absentees do not return this afternoon, Yarmouth will still be hot favourites to beat a side who have only won three of their 28 league matches this term.

The Bloaters head to Needham five points ahead of the side directly outside of the top three, Halstead Town, with a game in hand. The duo, plus third-placed Ely City and Lynn – who cannot go up due to the Eastern Counties set-up's rules – are now in a four-way fight to finish in the two remaining promotion spots after leaders Wivenhoe Town clinched an immediate Premier Division return in midweek.

Wivenhoe only need seven points from their remaining five fixtures, which includes a home clash against Debenham LC today, to lift the title.

Elsewhere, March Town United visit AFC Sudbury Reserves, Diss Town host Leiston Reserves, Dereham Town Reserves travel to Stowmarket Town while Downham Town are at Woodbridge Town.

In the Premier Division, Kirkley & Pakefield travel to Brantham Athletic while leaders Norwich United are at mid-table FC Clacton. Relegation-threatened Fakenham Town make the trek to Ipswich Wanderers while neighbours Swaffham Town, also in the mire, entertain Felixstowe & Walton United.

In the United Counties League Premier Division, Wisbech Town are on the road in Dick Creasey's second game back in charge of the club. He takes the Fenmen to Northampton Sileby Rangers – the side who beat Wisbech 2-1 at home during Brett Whaley's last game at the helm a fortnight ago.

Thetford Town pulled further away from the Premier Division bottom three last night when they recorded an excellent 4-0 win over Gorleston at Mundford Road. Town never looked back after Shane Leech put them ahead just before the break, with further goals coming from Lachie Allan, Robbie Priddle and Ian Fancett. The Greens had keeper Taurean Molloy sent off when the score was 3-0.
