Norwich United will take a big step towards the Premier Division title if they emerge victorious from this afternoon's top-of-the-table clash with Godmanchester.

The Planters go into the match 11 points clear of Rovers and with a game in hand.

They also go into the match in buoyant mood after securing their place in a cup final in midweek.

Damian Hilton's side won 1-0 at Felixstowe & Walton United in the semi-finals of the Thurlow Nunn League Cup on Tuesday night, thanks to a goal from striker Paul Cook.

They could face Godmanchester in the final of that competition as well, who play their semi-final at Walsham-le-Willows on Tuesday. The final is due to be played at the home of Diss Town, Brewers Green Lane, at 3pm on Monday, May 4.

The Cambridgeshire side will arrive at Plantation Park in high spirits as well today though, after securing their third consecutive victory on Wednesday night, winning 1-0 at home against Whitton United.

The match also brings together the Thurlow Nunn League's top goalscorers.

Goddy's Thomas Meechan tops the charts with 41 goals in 38 games in all competitions, ahead of Norwich striker Matt Blake, who has plundered 37 in 41 games.

Blake has scored more league goals than Meechan though, with 26 in 27 games, as opposed to 25 in 28 for his rival.

Thetford, Diss and Fakenham are without a match in the Premier Division but Kirkley & Pakefield welcome third-placed Stanway Rovers to Walmer Road.

The Royals have won two and drawn one of their last three matches and are looking to avenge a narrow 2-1 defeat at Stanway earlier in the season.

Gorleston host sixth-placed Felixstowe & Walton as they look to clamber back into the top half of the table. Richard Daniels' side have lost three of their last four and host a Seasiders team currently enjoying an eight-match unbeaten run in the league.

Swaffham Town will move top of the First Division if they win at struggling Leiston Reserves.

The Pedlars have had to remain patient as they make up their games in hand but have been in fantastic form, winning all of their last six and not tasting defeat in 12 matches.

Paul Hunt's side won 5-1 at home against Leiston last month and with leaders Long Melford not in action, victory will move them to the top of the pile, and with a game still in hand on their title rivals. Swaffham striker Alex Vincent is the division's top scorer after taking his tally for the season to 24 goals in 27 games with a brace in last weekend's 3-1 home win against Downham, who host mid-table rivals Stowmarket today.

Great Yarmouth Town kept themselves in the promotion race with a 4-0 win at Needham Market Reserves on Wednesday night. Ricci Butler side's go to 10th- placed Team Bury.

King's Lynn Reserves host mid-table rivals Halstead Town and Dereham Reserves entertain Debenham LC.
