King's Lynn Town Reserves will begin life in the Thurlow Nunn League with a derby under The Walks' floodlights.

The reformed outfit's second-string have won four titles on the bounce to power up to the First Division and reignite a series of crunch clashes in West Norfolk's non-league scene. And the Linnets' first comes this evening when they welcome a Downham Town side that lost 6-0 at Halstead Town on Saturday.

Lynn boss Jonathan 'Joff' Hawes, who saw his side's home match against Cornard United postponed at the weekend due to a waterlogged pitch, said: 'It was a massive disappointment to be honest. We had everything geared up and then the rain fell. It can't be helped. 'It's a big derby, even more so for us now as it's our first game at Step Six. Downham lost on Saturday so they'll be dangerous and as they say form always goes out of the window for a derby.'

Joff – who will be assisted by Ross McNeil this term – looks set to be without Gino Livoti, Kevin White, Jake Clitherhoe and Ryan Lennon. It will be the club's first game in the Eastern Counties set-up since 2009/10, when the 'old Lynn' were wound up in the High Court (December 09).

Their opponents will be without Craig Dickson. Downham's skipper limped off early on on Saturday and will not feature. However, Chris Sharp and Pat Yates look set to return.

Boss Mark Reeve said: 'It was a disappointing scoreline. I was not happy with the result, but if I'm brutally honest I could stomach that. Halstead are a strong team. Some individual players will be embarrassed about it. Tonight's a derby. So I won't have to say too much pre-game to get the players up for it. A lot of the lads know each other, and many at Lynn have come through the youth ranks at Downham. It's a good game to get our teeth into after the weekend.'

Up the A47, Swaffham Town will be looking to make it two wins from two when they take on Dereham Town Reserves. In the top flight, Diss Town entertain Gorleston with both clubs looking to record their maiden wins. Kirkley & Pakefield, fresh off the back of a 4-0 reverse at Godmanchester Rovers, host a Norwich United side who themselves won 4-1 at Felixstowe & Walton United. Thetford Town are at home to Walsham-le-Willows.

Premier Division new-boys Fakenham Town visit Ely City. Wayne Anderson's promoted Ghosts gave a good account of themselves against champions Hadleigh United but lost 1-0 so will be looking to get their first points on the board.
