Manager Richard Daniels returns to Gorleston this afternoon hoping to put a dent in his former club's promotion hopes – and boost Diss Town's survival chances.

Daniels' tenure at Emerald Park, which saw him and Stewart Larter win the Norfolk Senior Cup last term, came to an end last October before the enigmatic boss decided to take charge of the Tangerines.

While Larter's Greens sit fifth in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, Daniels' Diss are just one place, and seven goals, above the dreaded drop. And while the Town chief admits it will be weird walking into the visiting dressing room today he admits he's more concerned with extending his side's chances of avoiding relegation,

Daniels, whose Diss team have won their last two games, said: 'We've moved outside of the bottom three, for the time being, and I'm going back to the place I'll always call home. It's going to be strange. But it's only a game of football. It's three points. It's 90 minutes. Me and Stu are still mates but I'm manager of Diss now. If we play the way we have been for the last few weeks I feel we can get a result. Plus, every Saturday the first result I look for is Gorleston's one, but this week I won't need to.'

Elsewhere at the top of the table, Wisbech Town will be looking to build on a good week which saw them pick up three points, progress to the League Cup semi-finals and sign midfield Danny White from King's Lynn Town. The Fenmen, sixth, but with games in hand on all of their promotion rivals, visit struggling Wivenhoe, one place below Diss, and boss Steve Appleby insists only a win will do if they want to keep up with league leaders Dereham Town.

The Wisbech boss said: 'We've put ourselves in a position to be challenging in the league. We have to go there and get three points. Draws are no good to us. Basically it's down to who can have the best run-in this season. Danny's arrival will give everyone a lift. He's a quality player with loads of energy who's got bags of experience playing at this level and higher. He has been in this situation before and he's won things.'

Dereham host Haverhill Rovers, Kirkley & Pakefield entertain relegation-threatened Thetford Town while Norwich United visit Stanway.

In the First Division, Fakenham Town, fifth, travel to Braintree Reserves, Great Yarmouth are at second-placed Cambridge University Press and Downham Town travel to Ipswich Wanderers. Seventh-placed Swaffham Town head to Team Bury hoping to build on the fine performance which saw them, somehow, lose 4-0 at table-topping Newmarket on Saturday.

Pedlars boss Paul Hunt said: 'It did flatter them. We played really, really well. Fair play to them, they dealt with our pressure. But when you go to the league leaders and their main chances are on the counter attack, well it's a real testament to how we played.'
