Gorleston head to Brantham looking to defend the Premier Division's last remaining unbeaten record today – but will be without top scorer Connor Ingram, who is set for a trial at Ipswich Town.

The 17-year-old striker has impressed with nine goals in 13 games for the Greens so far and emphasised the point with a hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup on Thursday night, in a 5-4 extra-time defeat for the U18s at Framlingham in second round qualifying.

Gorleston boss Ricci Butler will rest the teen ahead of his trial with the Blues, saying: 'Connor worked really hard last year when playing for the reserves and scored 50-odd goals, then during this pre-season he really knuckled down.

'He's bulked out a bit and to be fair to him, he plays with absolutely no fear, because there's no pressure on him. It's a bit different to a player like Jack Garrod, who knows there's a little bit of pressure on him, coming in from Wroxham and being well known in local football. Jack knows he needs to turn it on a little bit but with Connor, we just give him a shirt and tell him to go and enjoy it.

'If he scores then enjoy it but if he doesn't, it doesn't matter.'

The Greens have won six and drawn three of their nine matches so far, with Butler crediting hard work off the pitch from players and staff as the reason, including the addition of coach Matty Potter.

He is wary of today's trip to ninth-placed Brantham though, adding: 'Their front four are lively and they have a fair bit of experience, whereas we are a really young side. They've got Oli Mann and Sean Bartlett and have just signed Ben Newson from Stanway, so they pose a real threat and especially at home, so we have to make sure we guard against complacency, but we haven't conceded away from home yet.'

Elsewhere, early-season surprise package Thetford travel to third-placed Stanway and Fakenham face a tough fixture when they host fifth-placed Wivenhoe.

In the First Division, Diss travel to lowly local rivals Team Bury and Dereham Reserves host high-flying Coggeshall.
