Team Norfolk athletes were in action at the first Youth Development match of the season at the UEA Sportspark in Norwich.

A number of big London clubs also attended the event, which also had electronic timing and measuring available.

Athletes for Team Norfolk came from almost all of the county track and field clubs for this special event.

There were some outstanding performances in spite of the fact that the cool breezy conditions had an adverse effect on track events.

One of the best performances came from Oliver Massingham in the under 20 discus when he threw an excellent distance of 48m 66. Such was the quality of the opposition that it wasn't enough to win.

However, Lucy Koenigsberger hurled the hammer out to a fine 49m67, another performance to place her in the top 10 in the country in the under 17 event.

Another Team Norfolk win came in the under-17 200m when Louis Albrow was timed at 23.07 seconds. Will Mahoney won the 17 3,000m in a well judged 9mins 28.52 seconds. Lucy Edwards was another to perform well with a 5m 40 under 20 long jump.

Final team positions:

1. Blackheath and Bromley 772 points

2. Shaftsbury Barnet 671 points

3. Windsor Slough and Eaton 568.5 points

4. Reading 521 points

5. Team Norfolk 435 points

6. Crawley 357 points

The Norfolk County Championships will be held at the Sportspark in Norwich on May 13/14.
