For the third year in succession Kirkley crashed out of the Ridgeons League Cup at the first round stage to first division opposition Diss. With six players out of the Kirkley side Diss took advantage on 36 minutes when Mark Angel in loads of space turned and hit a left foot shot into the corner of the net. Diss had further chances through debutant Gavin Norman but Pauling brought off three reflex saves. Diss Town increased their lead on 70 minutes from a deep free-kick after Dale Vince hit a flying shot for their second goal. Kirkley and Pakefield scored a token effort in a below-par performance in the 88th minute through centre back Joe Jefford who scored on the line from a free-kick.

Diss Town deserve their 2-1 victory.
