Wymondham overcame the brave challenge of lowly Swaffham to claim a hard-fought win, although the bonus point eluded them.
After going behind to an early penalty the hosts got their noses in front when a good scrum and a sharp thrust into the visitors defence by Tom Poole backed up by Auden Airdrie ended with Charlie Duffin touching down.
Then a lovely show and go by Poole saw him score a brilliant try, on his full debut for the first XV, which Duffin converted. Later in the half good swift ball by the forwards saw Airdrie dart over for the third try to make it 17-3 before Swaffham replied with a second penalty.
The second half was a big disappointment for the hosts as they had the bulk of possession but were unable to turn it into points. A mixture of home errors and brave defence ensured there were no further scores.
Wymondham are now six points behind leaders Thetford, who lost 7-5 at Woodbridge.
