Snetterton's first hero, Archie Scott Brown, will be honoured this weekend during the Historic Car Club's two-day meeting at the Norfolk track.

His memorial stone was recently removed from its place in the former scrutineering bay to be restored and will be unveiled alongside the new Scott Brown scrutineering bay by Brian Lister and Ashill's Jack Sears.

Scott Brown first tasted success at the Norfolk track in April 1952 in an MG TD, but it was his exploits in Brian Lister sports cars, built in Cambridge, with which he became indelibly linked.

A parade of Lister-built cars will take place on Sunday while in the BRDC Sportscar races John Pearson's racing Lister Jaguar will take on the more nimble Cooper Monaco's of Tony Ditheridge and Graeme Dodd.

Halesworth's Colin Wright will be chasing victory in the FF2000 section of the Classic Formula 3 race in which Richard Trott will be looking to continue his winning steak.

The hardest fought races will be for the Historic FF1600 honours. Nelson Rowe will be challenging multi-champion Neil Fowler for supremacy in the series.

The giant killing acts from the Mini Coopers in the Historic Racing Saloons always keep the crowds entertained as they try to humble much bigger and quicker cars. Roger Ebdon, Roger Phillips and Roger Godfrey take on Ford Mustangs, Lotus Cortinas and Alfa Romeos.

A wide variety of sports cars contest both the 70's Roadsports and Classic Sports Car races with the Hethel built Lotus Europa's giving a local flavour to the events.

The Formula 5000 Gurney Eagle of Judy Lyons will attract a lot of attention in the paddock prior to the start of racing at 11.45am on Saturday with racing resuming again on Sunday at 11.35am.
