Former Norwich City midfielder Simon Lappin has joined Wroxham as a player-coach.

The 35-year-old, who left King’s Lynn Town at the end of last season, has signed for the Yachtsmen as manager Jordan Southgate, appointed this summer alongside Adam Drury as his assistant, starts to put his stamp on the squad.

“Laps (Lappin) will give us those high standards on the pitch and bring his experience to develop our young squad during games and beyond,” Southgate told the club’s official website. “He’s delighted to be part of the set up here and we’re all looking forward to working together. He’s already made a big impact and is very demanding of all of the players.”

Lappin made more than 100 appearances for Norwich over a six-year period from 2007-2013 that included promotion to the Premier League. He moved back to Norfolk last summer with the Linnets but decided to leave The Walks after one season, following manager Ian Culverhouse out the exit door.
