WOMEN'S EAST LEAGUE: Norwich Dragons made an impressive return to league action after a two week break when they beat Harleston Magpies II 2-1 at Loddon in Division 1N.

Magpies started strongly but some fantastic defensive work by Rowan Yorke Smith, Lizzie Moulton and Laura Easter and some great saves by keeper Christina Wise kept Magpies at bay. One of the few breakaway chances led to Dragons' first goal, scored by Claire Baker. Magpies responded with a well worked goal to equalise.

The second half was totally opposite to the first, with Dragons piling on the pressure, and it was not long before Laura Shreeve scored for Dragons from close range.

Despite a late short corner scare and being reduced to 10 players after a yellow card, Dragons managed to hold on to win the game.

In Division 2NE a second-half hat-trick from Leigh Ann Worrall helped leaders Norwich City notch up a convincing win 7-1 win at Old Buckenham. City were 2-0 up at the break, courtesy of a goal from captain Deb Painter and a scorching strike from Robyn Holden. Old Buckenham deservedly got one back but any thoughts of a dramatic turn-round were quickly crushed as Worrall went on to score three goals to earn the player of the match award. Other goals came from Debbie Bryant and Hannah Phillips.

Sprowston hit back from a goal down to win 2-1 at North Walsham.

It wasn't until Walsham scored in the second half that the visitors started to show any purpose. Kerry Hamilton had two shots that slid along the goal line without crossing it before Nic Cage passed to Marie Hood to provide the equaliser.

Amy Butler scored the winner as she ran past the Walsham defence from the halfway line before passing the ball into the net.
