Back-up keeper Matthew Hails will be hoping for more cup success today as he makes his fourth start of the season for King's Lynn Town.

Lynn's number two has started each of his side's United Counties League Cup games this campaign and will once against deputise for Alex Street in the Linnets quarter-final against Cogenhoe United at The Walks (3pm).

Linnets boss Gary Setchell insists he will continue to select Hails for any future league cup matches - even if Lynn reach the final.

Setchell said: 'Matty's done a lot of handling work with Pedro (Street) this week who is fine and understands why he's not playing today.

'Many managers use their number two keepers in the league cup to give them some much-needed action. Matty has done well and even if we get to the final he will play because this is his competition.

'The league is our priority - we want to win it - but we'll continue to use the league cup to our benefit.

'It's a good chance to try and get some minutes into some of the players but we have got one or two with niggling injuries that we won't be risking.

'We might have done so if we were playing a Long Buckby or someone in the league but I need these lads for games against Thrapston Town and Newport Pagnell Town during the next seven days - we're looking at the bigger picture.'

Jordan Yong (back) is doubtful while Steve Spriggs (back) is touch and go. Luke and Jamie Thurlbourne - who Setchell described as 'dreadfully ill' at training this week - may also miss out.

New signing Jason Turner is cup tied but club captain Ross Watson will start as he continues his return from an ankle injury.

'Ross has been out for a long time and Ryan Fryatt, Stuart Wall and Ashley Deeney have been doing well,' said Setchell.

'Today is a good chance for Ross to stake a claim to get his place back and I'm sure he'll be a key player for us during the run in. The lads know we've got a good squad and there's competition for places so they're under pressure to perform every time they get picked.

'The lads have probably grown sick of running during our fortnight or so off due to the weather so they'll be looking forward to playing again.'

Cogenhoe, who could hand a debut to new signing Jake Gillingwater, have lost once in eight games. They failed to beat Lynn last season.

The winner of today's tie will face either St Ives Town or First Division Bugbrooke St Michaels in the semi-final.
