NORTH WALSHAM 19, TRING 30: The Vikings lost their last home league game of the season by five tries to three – and after 24 years of national league rugby will be regrouping in London 1 North after this weekend's visit to Gravesend.

Lee Sandberg was absent, on duty with the Swedish national side, and Leon Davies was unavailable as he is playing for the RAF against the Navy on Wednesday. Alex Graf-Grote had a gritty game at scrum-half, Tom Coller shone at the throw in while Chris Kent popped up in the line with Barry Frost from full-back.

The first 50 minutes went well, with a try after two minutes for Rhys Davies-Horne, and another for Shane van Vuuren on the other wing just before the half hour. Jake Harris converted the latter from in front of the posts.

In between both Tring wings also scored tries, Tim Loughnan getting the first, converted by Liam Chennells, who then scored the first of his hat-trick, leaving things all square at half-time.

Walsham's kicking was much more accurate than of late, although the defence was tending to bunch in the middle, leaving blind side gaps which Tring were able to exploit.

Chennells got a second try nine minutes into the second period, which he was unable to convert.

Tim Weber then replaced Stuart Loose. Gerald Hegarty and Tim Mason were tackling well for Walsham, and Adie Ball and Adam Couzens were sound in the centre, but despite good handling, the Vikings were now not often able to get across the gain line until captain Mark McCall scored on 61 minutes, converted by Harris, to retake the lead at 19-17.

Chennells got his third eight minutes later, after good recycling of the ball, failing to convert from the touchline.

Seven minutes from time, Tring full back Tom Newton scored another unconverted try, and Chennells added a penalty right on the final whistle to bring his personal points tally to 20.
