The runs continue to flow at Manor Park this summer, after Norfolk smashed their way to 392 for six on the first day of their Unicorns Minor Counties Championship clash with Suffolk.

It was Sam Arthurton who again grabbed the spotlight for Norfolk, scoring his second century in two matches.

Last week Bedfordshire scored 298 and 309 at Manor Park and Norfolk declared on 351 in a match which ended in a draw – and the Horsford ground continues to prove popular with batsmen.

Arthurton scored an unbeaten 166 in that match and continued that excellent form yesterday with a knock of 113.

It left Norfolk, still looking for their first three-day victory of the season, in a healthy position at the end of the first day's play of the final match of this year's Norfolk Festival of Cricket.

They finished on 392 for six in their 90 overs and also had time to bowl 20 overs. They were unable to make an early breakthrough though, with Suffolk closing on 42-0.

Jordan Taylor was promoted in the order to open the batting alongside James Spelman, with skipper Chris Brown returning to the starting XI after missing most of July with a calf injury.

Taylor fell for 10 for the opening partnership to end with just 21 runs on the board but Arthurton joined Spelman at the crease and got the innings moving.

They added 62 to the home side's total before Spelman went for 36. Arthurton was in no mood for an early exit though and continued to build good partnerships.

Alongside Garry Park another 53 runs were added, before the South African was out for 20. Then 47 were added alongside Peter Lambert, who fell for 24, leaving Norfolk at 183 for four.

Then the biggest partnership of the day was formed when Ben France joined Arthurton and enjoyed similar success with the bat.

Arthurton soon reached his 100 and the pair pressed on to build a partnership of 83, before Arturton went for 113, having faced 164 balls and scored eight fours.

France and Lewis Denmark continued in a similar vein, with a partnership of 37 before France went for 66, and so did Denmark along with wicketkeeper Stephen Gray.

Their partnership was unbeaten on 89 with Denmark on 57 and Gray 54 when Norfolk reached 90 overs.
