Dereham Town’s hopes of regaining some momentum before the Norfolk Senior Cup final continue at Aldiss Park.

The Magpies’ sensational run of form that had left them within unexpected striking distance of the play-offs has well and truly ground to a halt over the last fortnight.

A 2-1 home defeat to Phoenix Sports two weeks ago was followed up by a 1-0 loss at Thamesmead Town on Saturday.

While no points out of six has been a disappointing return, the chances of Matt Henman’s slide gatecrashing the top five were slim. However, more importantly, it has checked their charge towards another county cup final appearance so Dereham will be looking to return to winning ways today when they welcome Great Wakering Rovers.

It is the first of four remaining Ryman League Division One North fixtures for the men from Norfolk before they take on lower-level Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division Norwich United.

That match, at Norwich City’s Carrow Road ground, is scheduled for Friday, May 13.
