Dereham Town can continue their push for another top-10 finish by seeing off Aveley.

The Magpies have regularly flown high since clinching promotion to Ryman League Division One North by winning the Thurlow Nunn Premier title in 2013. Back-to-back seventh-placed finishes proved how quickly Matt Henman’s charges had found their feet at a higher level. And it’s been the same story so far this season.

Dereham are still, mathematically, in with a shout of matching or improving on seventh this time around with three games to go. But in truth anything from 10th or above would be an outstanding achievement given the loss of stellar players Andy Wilton, Ryan Hawkins, Michael Clunan and Remy Gordon – to name just four – last summer.

The Magpies’ 3-2 midweek win at Soham Town Rangers, secured thanks to Ryan Crisp’s brace and an Adam Smith strike, left them sitting ninth going into today’s match against the Millers at Aldiss Park.

The visitors sit 11th and know a victory would take them to within three points of Dereham in the table as the campaign begins to draw to a close.
