Under bright winter sunshine a very light south westerly blew for the seven helms on the start for the last two series races at Beccles Amateur Sailing Club.

Rory Kelsey and Georgie Roll in Norfolk Tankard were never far behind throughout race one as Richard Lewis and Tim French in Enterprise Tornado, after a promising start, led the fleet around, only to be passed by the flying Laser of Andrew Warnes after the last mark.

A race one win by Kelsey on corrected time combined with Team Baylis leaving early whilst having other commitments meant a nail biting finale developed.

The silverware was decided on the last race of three laps which included an interesting loop between three and four. Mike and Shirley Roll in Wayfarer Yarebeat took early control, being first to the bridge mark, and once out in clear air secured a blistering 10 minute lead over Kelsey and the rest of the fleet.

Second on handicap and finishing on equal points with Baylis, the countback rule was applied and Kelsey collected the Icicle Shield Silverware. With series racing now completed at BASC the final chance to sail this year will be a pursuit race on Boxing Day.
