With the watching Peter Grant's spirit of adventure sweeping through the club, City Reserves extended the feel-good factor with a highly convincing and entertaining victory over Luton.
With manager Keith Webb also being afforded the rare luxury of six players with some first-team experience, life for the Hatters was always going to be difficult and City quickly took a vice-like grip on proceedings, ending the first period wholly in control and three goals to the good.

Their opener in the 23rd minute was a peach, Bally Smart turning on the edge of his own penalty area, then carrying the ball at high pace for 60 yards before delivering the perfect through pass to Chris Martin, who slid his effort past keeper Dean Brill and into the bottom left-hand corner.
Michael Spillane added the second, following up after Rossi Jarvis's header from a corner had been cleared off the line, and Martin grabbed the third six minutes before the break, holding off two defenders before striking a left foot effort firmly past Brill.

The second half was always likely to represent a consolidation exercise, and City held on with confidence - that important little word again - extending their advantage nine minutes from time when Smart squeezed a curling shot from the corner of the area between Brill's hand and an upright to complete a highly satisfactory night.
