The heavy rain and drop in temperature last week was a godsend and decreased the water temperatures dramatically overnight at Rocklands Mere Fishery.

The fish seemed to really respond to this and the weekend in particular saw a definite rise the in catch returns book.

Cloudy spells on both days were a relief from the sun and CDCs and emerger patterns worked well. Black buzzers also accounted for fish, with father and son Mike and Matt Bradbeer banking 15 rainbows between them on Saturday. Lester Bishop landed five rainbows and browns in a short morning session which came to a halt when the sun appeared from behind the clouds. Since the rain the water has become extremely clear so smaller flies will work best. Try Klinkhammers, CDC buzzers or small Shipmans when conditions allow and black buzzers fished static when the sun is shining.
