A highly controversial goal five minutes before full time saw City Academy side come away from Reading this afternoon empty-handed.
Ricky Martin's side went a goal down midway through the first half when a miss-hit shot was picked up away to the right and when the cross came in it was converted at the far post.
City had two good opportunities to draw level before the break but the Reading keeper made two good saves to deny Kris Renton and Bally Smart.
In the second half City drew level on the hour mark with a superbly taken volley from Damon Lathrope.
Norwich certainly matched the home side but on 85 minutes they were dealt a cruel blow when clearly in an offside position a Reading striker beat City keeper Steve Arnold. Various protests from the Canaries were quickly turned away by the referee.
t Norwich: Arnold, Matthews, O'Toole, Lathrope, McLean, D Kelly, Smart, R Kelly, Renton, Miller, Yung (Daley 82). Subs (not used): Steer, Davey, Smith.
t Better news for the Academy U16s who last week fought out a 2-2 draw at Millwall. This week they again earned a share of the points with an unbelievable 5-5 scoreline.
