Thomas Randle's continental adventure continued with races in Germany and Austria in the last two weeks with the Kenninghall racer narrowly missing out on his first podium place.
New to the Formula Renault Eurocup series, and to the Nurburgring circuit, Randle did well to qualify in ninth and 10th places for the two German rounds.
Randle's opening race was ruined as a result of having to take evasive action to avoid an early incident between two cars ahead of him, which damaged his front wing,
The resulting loss of front grip hindered progress, although he managed to salvage 11th place, just missing out on a championship point.
The second race was held in torrential rain with limited racing laps, but the local racer was in a long line of cars disputing fourth place before a late error saw him lose a position and come home in ninth place.
'I'm kicking myself for running too deep into the hairpin on the final lap,' admitted a disappointed Randle. 'I actually braked earlier than usual knowing I had nobody too close behind, but hit a patch of water and the car just wouldn't pull up.'
The series moved on to the Austrian Red Bull Ring with Randle claiming seventh place on the grid for both races.
A good start to race one from Randle, who is the current Toyota Racing Series champion, saw the local racer use all of his race craft to dispatch three cars in just two corners to secure fourth place, his best result to date.
Race two required a pair of safety car interludes, which broke up the racing, but Randle kept his concentration and the pressure on the leading runners.
In a hectic last lap Randle had to survive a degree of contact as he ran three wide in an effort to hold on to his sixth place for his second helping of championship points from the meeting.
'What a great weekend,' enthused Randle. 'We had a strong car from the outset and the Red Bull Ring is just fantastic to race on. It's so wide and offers a number of racing lines that allow you to set-up and attack those around you, and it was some of the best racing I have been involved in.'
