City of Norwich AC and Great Britain junior international Rachel Stringer attended an 'On Camp with Kelly' weekend with her coaches Tim and Pauline Ash at Bath University.
Rachel is a member of an elite squad of girl athletes who Dame Kelly Holmes sees as potential champions over 800m and 1500m, the events at which she won gold at the 2004 Olympics. The weekend was to enhance Rachel's overall athletic development and it proved to be tremendously beneficial as well as giving her the chance to meet up with like-minded talents.
Kelly presented Rachel with an achievement award for her track performances over the past 12 months, in which she has won the AAA's Indoor 800m title, became the English Schools Senior Girls 800m champion and represented Great Britain at the European Youth Olympics staged in Belgrade.
She also won an England rugby shirt in a 'guess the score' competition organised by Dame Kelly, who will meet up with her young protege again tomorrow when Rachel is one of finalists at the EDP Norfolk Sports Awards.
