Two-goal hero Steve Spriggs heaped praise on his team-mates after inspiring King's Lynn Town to another FA Trophy upset on Saturday.

Lynn's flying winger was in sensational form as he tore higher-level AFC Telford United to shreds on his way to bagging a memorable brace at The Walks.

However, after notching his 17th and 18th goals of the season, Spriggs moved quickly to highlight the efforts of the other heroes in yellow who helped Gary Setchell's side stun the Blue Square Premier club.

Spriggs said: 'Everyone was different class. Jordy (Jordan Yong) is one for the future and I really think he's going to end up playing a lot higher. He had both of their wingers, the lad who got sent off (Steve Jones) and the lad who came on (Luke Hubbins), in his pocket. I think it showed with the sending-off.

'Russell (Dunkley) was different class. He bullied their two centre-halves from start to finish. We do stats at half-time and I can't remember what they were exactly but I think he won 15 flick-ons, which shows he's a force.

'He hasn't, and credit to him he'd be the first to say it, got the best first touch in the world, but what he lacks in that he makes up for with his presence.'

Jason Turner's late strike sealed the Linnets' 3-1 triumph – their fifth in this season's competition, all against sides who operate at a higher level.

Spriggs, who played at Wembley in the FA Vase final for Wroxham, admits Lynn's second-round Trophy triumph comfortably ranks among one of his finest days in the non-league game.

'It's up there. The Vase was a massive achievement. To play at Wembley as such a young lad. So it's not up there with that because it's the home of football. But it's right behind it on a personal level,' said the right-sided midfielder who has scored a stunning 63 goals in 125 appearances for The Walks club.

'You're going to have ups and downs. People didn't expect us to do as well as we have so once we'd been consistent the fans expect it.

'When we put in a display like we did against Hucknall last week it wasn't good enough. But we know we're good enough on our day to match anyone and we proved it against Telford. We were up for it. It was a massive game, there was a big crowd and they got behind us. It all helps.

'It was a massive game though, they're a Conference side and they're a good team so to score two goals was a great achievement and I'm really proud of myself.'

Spriggs said he would love Lynn to draw a former Football League club like Luton or Grimsby, who are among nine Blue Square Premier clubs in today's third-round draw.
