Gary Setchell admits playing on a plastic pitch will affect the King's Lynn Town team he picks for tonight's trip to Romulus.

The Linnets visit Coles Lane – the home of Sutton Coldfield Town – for the second time this term looking to keep up their play-off push.

However, the 3G surface in the Midlands is likely to cause problems for striker Russell Dunkley meaning Setchell is going to be forced into making changes whether he likes it or not.

The Lynn boss, who started Dunkley during Lynn's 2-0 home win over Rainworth Miners Welfare on Saturday, said: 'The lads are tired. A game tonight isn't ideal, on the plastic pitch, and I'll have to pick a team for the pitch, rather than the opposition.

'Dunks was out for three or four months when he played on one two years ago as he's got an on-going arthritis problem with his ankle from when he broke it when he was 18. So it's probably a definite no-no for 90 minutes for him. With Bunts (Richard Bunting, groin), it's a day by day thing.

'One day, he wakes up and he might not be able to walk, or he might be able to do 90 minutes. We'll have to play it by ear. The lad will want to play. He's got a couple of weeks' rest after tonight through suspension so hopefully I can get some minutes out of him this evening. But if I can't I'll use the squad as that's what I've got one for.'

The Linnets' last trip to Coles Lane was far from plastic fantastic as a 3-1 defeat – on a night where Bunting and Phil Gulliver were sent off – ended their 14-match unbeaten run.

However, with his side having won their last four league matches on the bounce, Setchell insists he will be making no excuses tonight if his men return to Norfolk without any points.

He said: 'We conceded three penalties and their left-back got a hat-trick. It was just a strange night. We'd been on an amazing run so it was disappointing to lose it there.

'Obviously you've got an excuse straight away with the pitch but we're not going to be using it as an excuse. We know what we're walking into. It's going to be a difficult surface for us so we're going to have to try and play a little bit differently and hopefully we can get a result.

'Romulus are not tearing any trees up, they're fighting for points, so it will be a difficult game. But if we can get on the bus with some sort of result I'll be a happy manager.'

- A pitch inspection will be held later today to see if tonight's game can go ahead. Two inches of snow fell on the Coles Lane surface overnight
