A record-breaking entry of more than 500 runners took part in the Freethorpe 10-mile road race.
Runners enjoyed the dry, but chilly, conditions around the villages of Southwood, Limpenhoe, Reedham, Wickhampton before returning to Freethorpe and is organised by the Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club.
Entrants for the race, which was organised by Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club, were not only from Norfolk and Suffolk, but several runners had travelled some distance to reach this remote location and included runners from Wales, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and London.
Woodbridge Shufflers runner Tom Fairbrother, inset, took victory in a course record time of 53:15 with Joe Skipper from City of Norwich AC runner-up in a time of 53:30. Last year's winner, Daniel Middleton, took third place in 53:59, beating his previous time in the process. The ladies' race was won by Odette Robson from St Edmunds Pacers in a time of 1:01:52 and second was Charlotte Rose from City of Norwich AC in a time of 1:02:39. Third was Anna Blackwell from Cambridge Tri Club in a time of 1:07:31.
Many runners enjoyed personal best times even with the breezy conditions. Norwich Road Runners won the Senior Men's and Ladies' Masters team prizes, whilst North Norfolk Beach Runners won the Men's Masters team prize and City of Norwich AC won the Senior Ladies' Team prize.

The day could not have been a success without the help of Freethorpe Village Hall committee, the members of GYDAC and their families and friends, Freethorpe First Responders and Freethorpe Scouts, all the runners and their supporters. The club's next race is the Humpty Dumpty 10K on Sunday, June 28, which includes the Leathes Prior Grand Prix Series Race.
